This is just a personal message from myself, Danny, and could well be completely wrong. I have certainly been known to make some wrong calls in the past. I would just like to advise authors to be a little cautious of some of the companies that spend a fortune advertising their services. That money has to be recouped somehow and it seems to me that it’s done by charging authors high upfront fees.
I know some companies may be subsidiaries of large international corporations, but have in your mind what you would be prepared to spend before getting the sales pitch. Usually authors don’t have time constraints on being published so dip your toes into the water first. There’s no reason why you can’t try an eBook before printing for example.
